All of the Electrolyte and Neutralizing Solutions
manufactured by Millennium Signatures Marking
Systems are completely safe to use. In the case of
Electrolyte Solutions, all are based on a mild
sodium solution and do not contain harsh chemical or
anything acidic or corrosive. All formulations have
continuously updated MSDS sheets available. Please
see go to Safety Data
Sheets for more information.
While the
solutions are said to be non-corrosive as they can
be safely handled and not pose respiratory threat or
danger when in contact with the skin, there is the
potential that the surface area of your part in
close proximity to the location of the mark or any
area that has come in contact with the electrolyte
marking solution, could develop a light oxidization.
This is directly due to the sodium content of the
electrolyte and this oxidization affect can be at
first nearly undetectable or more advanced based on
environmental conditions such as humidity. This side
effect of the process can be completely prevented by
the proper use of one of our Neutralizer Products
that when properly used will instantly neutralize
the sodium in any traces of the solution that may be
left on the surface of the part after marking. Those
who are new to the process and/or those who have
failed to properly neutralize their parts after
marking may find that this side affect is more
noticeable during times of the year when higher
levels of humidity are present.
Millennium
Signatures – RPO Product or Rust Protective Oil is
an additional process that can be taken if desired
to further protect your product from oxidization.
RPO does not take the place of neutralizing, as it
seals the part under what quickly becomes a dry or
ever so slightly tacky oil based protective film.
Neutralizing will prevent the part from rusting due
to the active ingredients in the electrolyte but
will not continue to protect the part from other
environmental conditions that might cause your metal
to oxidize or rust. RPO is available in a
non-aerosol spray or in 1-Quart bottles and 5-Gallon
pails.
Special Applications and Formulations
Within the Aerospace & Nuclear industries
specifically there is application for special
formulations that are required such as NON-CHLORIDE
Neutralizers as an example. We have detailed
information available on a variety of such
formulations. Please do not hesitate to contact our
sales office and inform us of any special
applications that might require such formulations
and we will be happy to help you in identifying the
proper Neutralizer for your special application.
Laboratory Tested & Certified
If required, we can not only produce your
Electrolyte or Neutralizer to meet your
specification in most cases we routinely provide the
service of having batches of a specific formula
analyzed and certified at an independent laboratory
to confirm that the solutions meet your specific
needs with complete documentation to back it up.
To have this service provided additional costs would
apply.
Extra
Strength Pre-Moistened Neutralizing Wipes
Problem: Despite efforts to use a Standard
Neutralizer to clean the etched surface of the part,
after a short while an orange haze or signs of
rusting start to develop in the area where the
Chemical Etch Marking was made, due to active
ingredients from the electrolyte remaining on the
surface of the part.
Solution: Extra Strength Neutralizing Wipes
have been developed to avoid what has been a common
problem with Chemical Etching since its very
beginning. In most cases the operator uses a cloth
dampened with our Standard Neutralizer Product to
wipe the etched surface of the part clean once
finished the marking process, effectively
neutralizing any remaining sodium left on the part
from the Electrolyte Formulation used.
However, in many cases the operator(s) may not have
been diligent enough to have maintained a relatively
clean neutralizing cloth and dampened often enough
with a fresh supply of neutralizer. It is more
common than one might realize that before long they
are just wiping electrolyte around on the parts and
transferring it to others.
Extra Strength Neutralizing Wipes are made with a
NEW highly concentrated neutralizing formula and
made available in the form of a convenient
ready-to-use pre-moistened and disposable wipe. Each
wipe will give you excellent neutralizing results
for approximately 12 to 15 parts and will start to
disintegrate in-turn forcing the operator(s) to use
a new one before electrolytes start to spread from
part-to-part which will likely cause a gradual
reaction which will ultimately become a rusty stain
on your NEW High Quality Precision Parts or
Products.
Neutralizing wipes also prevents losses due to
spilling and is Fast, Safe and Easy to use.
